There was a split in followers of Hegel between the "young Hegelians" who thought the Hegelian dialectic meant we had to radically transform society, Marx being the most famous. And then there was the "old Hegelians" who thought that 18th century Germany was the peak of human achievement and absolutely nothing could be improved. Constituional monarchy was the final form of government and that's that.

It turns out that much like everyone ever who has had that idea, they were wrong.
